Post 16 Welcome

Coopers Sixth Form prides itself on being student centred.

We endeavour to get the best out of all of our students, whatever programme they choose to follow, which is why we are in the top 10% of schools nationally at Key Stage 5.

Our experienced team of staff ensure that students are supported through all of the challenges of Post 16 life; our vision is to ensure that all of our students are aspirational and are well prepared for what the future holds, be it university or employment.

The only school in South East London to offer the IB careers programme

We offer a wide range of courses and are proud to be the only school in South East London to offer the IB careers programme. In addition to our academic offer, we also have a comprehensive enrichment programme designed to develop the soft skills that are essential for future success.

Coopers’ 6th form students have a wealth of state of the art facilities at their disposal. The main hub of the 6th form community is the Mary Anderson Centre, situated in our Grade II listed Mansion House. The building encompasses teaching classrooms, a careers library, IT facilities and bookable study rooms. In addition, 6th form students have access to the 6th form coffee shop, which sells hot and cold food and refreshments throughout the day, and the 6th form study centre, which has over 70 laptops for students to use during their study periods.

Enrichment

At Coopers, we understand that our 6th form students need more than just academic qualification to prepare them for university study or employment.

As a result, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities to support them to become future leaders. Students have a plethora of opportunities to take leading and supporting roles in music and drama productions, both on stage and through technical support; 6th form students also lead on coaching younger students through our sports academies. In addition, the house system means that students are able to lead whole school competitions and represent their house as part of the student leadership team. A number of our 6th form students also support in KS3 classes and work with local primary schools. All students undertake at least 1 hour of enrichment as part of their study programme.

Destinations

At Coopers, 6th form students are encouraged to be future thinking.

Throughout Year 12 and 13, students have access to a wide range of external speakers from employers and universities and also impartial 1-1 careers advice, which they can arrange any time through the careers library. For university applicants, the UCAS process is well supported by the Post 16 team and, as a result, our students secure places at a wide range of excellent universities. We have a programme in place to support students applying to Oxford/Cambridge and Russell Group universities, as well as those who choose to study Medicine. Equally, if students decide to follow a different route, we ensure that they are well informed and suitably prepared for applications and interviews.

Every year, our Year 13 students go on to study a broad range of degree courses at universities across Britain and abroad. Here are some examples:
