congratulations class of 2024!
With envelopes opened and destinations secured, we are delighted to celebrate the tremendous success of our Year 13 students today at Coopers. With a strong set of A-Level and BTEC results amassed, we bid farewell to a remarkable cohort – a resilient group of students who have exemplified our school values, having acted as true role models to our younger pupils, paving the way for their Year 12, and soon-to-be Year 13, successors.
Demonstrating their determination and ambition, a number of students celebrated individual successes today. While Ben, who achieved 3 x A grades in Maths, History and Economics, will be joining the University of Nottingham to study Economics, Marcus, who was awarded Distinction*/Distinction in double Business alongside a B grade in A-Level Economics, will be going to study Business and Management at the University of Kent. Davilone, who scored an almighty A* in English Language as well as an A in Sociology and a B in English Literature, is set to attend the University of Birmingham to study Politics and International Relations. Meanwhile, Beatrice achieved an A in English Literature, an A in History and a B in Psychology, meaning she will join the prestigious University College London to read English Literature.
We are delighted that our overall outcomes for students continue to improve. At A-Level, just under one in three students achieved grades A* to B, and there were also notable triumphs for students studying BTEC qualifications with 49% of all candidates achieving Distinction*/ Distinction grades (equivalent to A*/A at A-Level). These results represent the combined efforts of staff and students over the last two years.
While the majority of our students at Coopers are set to progress into Higher Education in September, an ever-increasing proportion of students have secured places at Russell Group institutions. Similarly, there has also been a rise in the uptake of Higher Apprenticeships. These provide school leavers with the excellent opportunity to purse a university degree while simultaneously working.
We would like to take this moment to express our sincere thanks to our staff, parents, carers and governors who have worked in partnership with us to support the Year 13 cohort. They have demonstrated significant levels of effort and resilience over the last two years, and we wish them all the very best for the future.
